General Website Questions:

This website is a forum of many opinions. Many opinions may appear not true to you, because everyone has a frame of mind. This does not mean anything is acceptable of course. This website will delete reviews that are libel by the legal standard. This standard roughly requires the poster to be malicious and intend harm, by knowingly posting false information. If there are any comments meeting this criteria, I will delete them as soon as they are brought to my attention. It is difficult to reach that high burden of proof, so most comments are not deleted to preserve different views of a professor.

There have been many great ones that I personally have used over the years, but I felt many of them fell short of their true potential. Most review sites were at best loosely managed, and out of touch with student's today. Often times I had a choice between 3 or 4 teachers that had a lot written about them, with 5 or 6 classes to take reading up on 24 teachers is quite a bit of work. That's why this site was born.

A lot of browsers disable printing of background images/colors to try and save you printer ink. Although in most cases, you actually want the background images/colors. To change it for internet explorer, please visit here to see step by step guide on how to fix it.

E-mail me your wonderful idea, many heads are better then one. Or if have a CalPolyOnline forum account, please suggest it in the forum so the whole community can see your idea. I implement ideas quickly if I believe in them.

Relax, like all uncommercial websites, this site will have errors. I have fixed all the bugs I have found, but I'm sure I left plenty to be discovered. If some weird combination of entries or events causes an error message, please use the "contact admin" link at the bottom of the page. Provide what you did, and a copy of the error received, and I will look into it within 36 hours.

Teacher Evaluation Related Questions:

Professor reviews have been changed to allow students to rate which are the most helpful. However, newer reviews will still show up to give them a chance to be ranked helpful.

Write your own review. This website is a place for students to come together to discuss their personal views about professors, not to have some views heard more strongly then others.

Only when the comment does not provide important information, is not relevant to their teaching ability, or is downright distasteful. I am taking a "I know it when I see it" approach to slander. Comments that are relevant opinions, even written at the 3rd grade level will NOT be deleted. The key here is: value.

My database system is designed to prevent immature or irrational people from putting me at risk legally for slandering someone that I have nothing against, and have never even seen. I have set it up so comments must first be approved by a Administrator before they are displayed.

Comments that are not relevant to a professor's teaching ability will be deleted. The goal is to provide accurate information. Any details about the physique of a professor, will be deleted. Any details about sexual orientation, or personal lives will be deleted. Any details that are no longer true because a professor has changed due to feedback, will also be deleted. For example, if a professor used to be an easy professor - but changed to be more challenging; only comments regarding how easy a professor is will be deleted upon professor's request. This is to ensure accurate information for students, not to censor undesirable discussions.

Book Finder Related Questions:

The Amazon.com & half.com links are 100% accurate to the posted ISBN number provided by the school bookstore, look for special notifications letting you know if the book is for a different term or instructor.

This system updates the information every 72 hours so they may grow old as the market changes. Sometimes prices are not available.

I and many of my friends have bought books online for years. I have not heard of any problems of fraud or loss of money greater, although I am sure some exist. Always check the sellers rating to make sure they have a reasonable history of delivering the merchandise. Books ordered online normally take up to 2 weeks to arrive, so plan ahead!
